This pin was a popular Victorian piece. Usually, it was just the word Mizpah, but here the piece shows a book and the verse from Genesis that came after the mention of mizpah: the Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another. Known as sentimental jewellery, this saying really does carry literal sentiment.

This brooch appeared for June 7 – the anniversary of my mum’s death, so I just had to buy it. I had never heard that word before but it has so much meaning to me now. Thank you so much – and that story of the man and the brooch for his mother was wonderful.

I find a lot of pieces that resonate with me – unfortunately, the majority are not in my budget! So it’s lovely to find one that is – but I do enjoy the mix of the fabulous and the affordable.
