There is something about the way the materials in this necklace by self taught jewellerjeweller Meryl Lefcovich – raw amethyst and citrine – are put together on the neck wire that looks utterly right.
A painter with a degree in art history, Lefcovich describes her jewellery journey this way: “In 2011, I learned how to solder and there was no looking back. Jewelry design and fabrication have become my passion. My primary influences are flora, fauna and a fascination with Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts movement. As an art history major, ancient cultures also impact my designs; I love the look of a slightly time0worn patina, as though a long lost piece was newly discovered. combining raw and organic with delicate and romantic, whimsy, combinations of color and gemstones – a ll have a place in my designs. I start with a concept; a new interpretation of the natural world, then the metal takes over and informs me how each piece should develop.

I must agree. This piece’s organic proclivity is just right, not strained if you will. I love the text about “time worn patina.” It’s after my own heart. Cool!
