Jewel of the day: Vahan Love Knot Ring

There are all kinds of iterations of the love knot form, but this chunky diamond strewn version by Vahan is quite appealing.

It is made with sterling silver and 14 karat gold and set with 1.07 carats of white diamonds and sells for USD $6750.

Interestingly, Vahan has no info on their site about the brand and its history, but it’s quite interesting. You can find more here, in their Wikipedia entry.

  1. The ring is lovely. For silver and a smattering of gold, however, the price point is slightly high, 14K no less. At a retail level, there are about $2ooo worth of diamonds, and they appear to be fine white full cuts. It’s a truly refreshing and wearable take on the old style knot ring.

  2. Most “name” jewelry is overpriced if going solely by materials and manufacture. I guess it’s something you have to swallow if buying from some designers. It goes back to the interesting concept of what something is “worth.” If calculating by materials alone, very little is “worth” the retail price being asked. Especially when it comes to resale and you see how precipitously the “worth” drops!
