Jewel of the day: Dionea Orcini Asya Diamond and Agate Bracelet

I did a double take when looking at this bracelet because on first glance, I was sure a mistake had been made and it’s actually a necklace.

But no, this piece by Dionea Orcini really is a bracelet. Just a very elaborate one. The scanty description on the Roseark site notes (with some errors, I’m guessing): 18K Rose Gold, .681cts Diamonds, Black Onyc, Black Spinel and White Agate on Macrame.

I am not sure what the asya in the name of the piece refers to … and not sure if this is .61 carats of diamonds, or 681? If you are interested in pursuing the answers to these mysteries, let me know. The piece sells for USD $21,825.

  1. An interesting experiment in design but is it wearable? More than once? I think not.

It appears to be more along the lines of a few P.T. Barnum mantras – ” There’s a sucker born every minute” or “You will never go broke under-estimating the taste of the public”.

    As always,

    Dan

      1. As costume jewellery, I can see it as a Theda Bara type novelty but not as a serious piece of jewellery.
There appears to be no structural integrity to it at all – it could be worn to one Academy Award Show and then likely sent off to the jeweller’s shop for repairs or better yet, re-design.

  2. I don’t think it has enough presence to wear to the Academy Awards. But then, there wasn’t much of anything WITH presence at the awards again this year so you’re probably right. It would fit right in.

    1. Yes indeed, the awards was about selfies and pizza.

I would have preferred more dignity at the awards and more gravitas in the jewellery and fashion.

I found many of the dresses looked like they were made from toilet paper, like the Cashmere TP ads.
