In the event you haven’t yet bought a Mother’s Day gift and you have a robust budget, consider this gorgeous circa 1870 antique diamond pendant from Romanov Russia.
The site notes, “The necklace is designed as a heart locket pendant surmounted by a ribbon bow. Both are finely crafted in silver topped 14K gold (front – silver / back – gold). The 14K white gold chain and detachable bail are modern. The heart pendant is densely set with chunky old mine brilliant and rose cut diamonds. The largest diamond in the center measures 5.6 x 5.1 x 3.9 mm and is approximately 0.95 carat. Estimated total diamond weight is 8.60 carats. The diamonds are mostly H-I color, VS-SI clarity. The back of the heart is fitted with a glazed picture compartment. The heart could be worn alone or with the bow.”
As white gold didn’t become a thing until about 1912, I’d question their dating but the piece is undeniably spectacular. Should you have some spare gas money, it’s priced at USD$18,500.
