Golden Globes 2013 – the jewellery wasteland continues

I’ve been scanning the red carpet arrivals and – no surprise – despite lots of plunging necklines (and backs) and bared shoulders, another awards show brings another dearth of jewellery.

With the exception of a few pairs of earrings, one or two bracelets and a strand of pearls, there’s been zilch so far. And seriously – pearls? I love them but to accessorize a gala gown with a modest strand of pearls (even if these do look somewhat larger than average) is really underwhelming. Yes, Zooey Deschanel, I’m looking at you.

Where is Helen Mirren when you need her?

  1. Well said. Dearth is right. How disappointing that the few wearing jewelry have chosen the mainstays. Juliana Hough and the earring clip which she could hardly explain was probably the only unique piece on the red carpet. Isn’t putting on amazing ewelry the most exciting part? Anyone can afford a dress.

  2. People are SO afraid of ending up on a worst dressed list that they abdicate any personal sense of style to someone else. Bland is not better.
