Jewel of the day: Henri Vever Exceptional Butterfly Pendant Brooch

If I had unlimited wealth these are the type of pieces I’d love to acquire, fragile as they are. This plique a jour enamel brooch is by Henri Vever and was made in 1900.

This enamel technique is designed to let light through each cell, similar to stained glass and as a result, is very delicate. It was made with yellow gold accented with diamonds and the good news is there is zero temptation – it was sold at auction for $27,720 in 2024. But it sure is marvelous to look at.
