This first century ring was discovered in 2000 in Rome, almost by accident. Some work being done on a property led to a locked space which turned out to be the tomb of mother and son. The son, who died at 18, is pictured in the ring, intricately made with high karat gold and rock crystal that was likely reverse carved with the image of the teen. The ring was found on the hand of his mother, buried in the same tomb. It’s a pretty incredible artifact.
