I realize jewellers are under pressure given the rising cost of pretty much everything they use, but I still find it surprising to see silver plated brass when solid silver could be used…

Case in point, this ring from Completedworks. This has been made using resin set into gold plated brass.

I love costume jewellery, some pieces I own even more than fine jewellery. So it’s not that. It just seems an odd choice when silver could have been used and I doubt it would have brought up the price more… but it may have made margins more slender. I guess that at the end of the day, creativity has to duke it out with profitability.
