Jewel of the day: 19th Century Antique Florentine Mosaic Gold Earrings

In the 19th century, it was common for the rich to do a “grand tour” of Europe and to bring back souvenirs of their travels.

Pieces like these micromosaic earrings offered by American antique jewellery seller Romanov Russia, were a common purchase. The technique was used on everything from furniture to framed objects to jewellery.

These are 18k gold set with various hard stones, attributed to a Florentine maker. These are priced at USD$4,200.
