Carl Poul Petersen was a renowned Danish silversmith who emigrated to Montreal. He is probably best known for his tableware and flatware (though hockey fans will also know he redesigned the Stanley Cup in 1948). He did make jewellery, but it’s not as commonly found, and is often very similar to that of his better known countryman, Georg Jensen.
This brooch of a nude figure is done in sterling silver and stamped with his mark. It is available from Ruby Lane seller Gallerie du Louvre Antiques for USD$350.
