Gustave Sherman is perhaps best beloved for his incredible rhinestone jewellery. Shameless plus – as the co-author of the book Sherman Jewellery: The Masterpiece Collection, I have been fortunate to have seen and handled a lot of spectacular pieces. As the site has been a bit buggy lately, please message if you are interested in obtaining a copy of the book.
Some of Sherman’s more modest work, particular the plainer gold tone and bead pieces, tend to be overshadowed by all the rhinestone glitz and glam. This pretty fuchsia bead brooch is a good example. Wearable still (likely from the 60s), it’s available for USD$135 from Ruby Lane seller Cody’s Vintage Jewelry.
