Beautifully crafted pieces like this ring by Sarah Hood prove that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get something wonderful. This ring is made with sterling silver, 18k gold, 14k gold, a reverse set whisky quartz stone, and a .10 pt accent diamond. I love that the dogwood detailing (cast from a real dogwood branch) is on the back of the ring, really meant for the secret pleasure and attention of the wearer.
It sells for USD $630 and is made to order.

Never underestimate the power of quartz in jewelry. Jamie Joseph has made a fortune with nice two tone rings like this. The stone set pavillion side up is very pretty, too. Not like the jewelry I’m producing now, but very fun piece, indeed.
I think many designers are turning to less expensive materials with some really stunning effect.
