The Bulgari diamond necklace? STUNNING. The lack of earrings? DISAPPOINTING. No bracelet, either. Just a relatively modest looking diamond ring.
C’mon. It’s like someone is telling these women they can only wear one great item (if that). And why are they listening to that advice? Well, I guess some great diamonds are better than none. Off to go look at my Hollywood costume books for some real glamour. As I’d guessed, there was little to be had on the red carpet tonight.

I agree. She needs at least some diamond studs. Love her dress but the hair would look killer with a Veronica Lake side-swoop look, this is just too matronly or something.
It’s as though in playing it safe they kind of disappear. Or make the very mistakes they’re afraid of.
Seems ‘minimalism’ has been a trend for a few years, now. I’m blaming it on Jennifer Aniston.
I can’t wait until maximalism emerges.
Fashion at awards shows was certainly more fun to watch before stylists, don’t you think? Like Cher’s feather head dress and Barbara Streisand’s peek-a-boo pantsuit.

What I miss is that sense of personal style. Everything now is so safe and interchangeable!
