Years ago in Greece, my husband bought a bracelet of hand-worked silver with rings holding it together. Alas, it ended up not holding together as long as he would have liked and is long gone. This bracelet reminds me of that piece. It is made by Satchel Gallery in Niagara On The Lake and takes its inspiration from traditional Nordic jewellery. I really like the hammered finish; it’s always appealing to me to see the artisan’s mark on a piece, whether through the design or the actual craftsmanship.
Owner Susan Hess says, “Satchel Gallery designs usually are a balance of classicism and modernism. There is a story behind each piece of jewellery that has inspired its design and fabrication. Always true to our values and our belief in quality and hand fabrication, we strive to make each piece personal and delightful for the wearer.
This original bracelet design by Dan Taylor, the industrial designer, harkens back to traditional Nordic silver bracelets. It shows traditional handmade craftsmanship and it is forged from argentium sterling silver (93.5%+ Ag) which is highly tarnish resistant and exceptionally bright. It is an elegant piece that can be worn everyday with comfort and style. It is constructed out of solid, hand-forged bars with a hammered finish and solid handmade rings with a contrasting, smooth finish. The hammered facets on the sections catch and reflect light. This bracelet is made to fit the owner. It is a joy to wear jewellery that is made to fit you personally.”
This can be purchased online for USD $495.
