When I started collecting vintage costume jewelry many years ago, I passed by beads. I thought they looked old fashioned and dubbed them grandma beads. I’ve since come to really appreciate that artistry that frequently goes into their manufacture.

This necklace by Her New Tribe features artisanal ceramic beads “formed, fired and assembled by hand in Austin, Texas.”
