Jewel of the day: Cartier Deco Pendant

There is something about the name Cartier when added to the Art Deco period that is incredibly alluring.

This piece, offered by antique jewellery dealer N. Bloom and Son, is described as, “An elegant circular Deco period pendant circa 1920 by Cartier, Paris. The outer edge is set with calibre-cut sapphires, and the two old-cut diamonds, each about one-third carat, are suspended from chains running across between other chains, the whole pendant being mounted in platinum, in what seems to be its original red leather fitted case, lined with yellow chamois leather It is signed on the edge ‘CARTIER PARIS LONDRES’ with French platinum control marks. 1 1/8 inches: 28 mm diameter.”

It sells for £6,450.
