The remnants of this bracelet, made of chlorite, are believed to be the oldest bracelet found to date. It was discovered in 2008 in a cave with Denisovan remains in Siberia, and so is about 40,000 years old. Archeologists believe it was only worn on special occasions, and has significance because it wasn’t believed the Denisovans, a prehistoric human ancestor, did not have the skills to make something so refined.
Goes to show that the urge to adorn is not a modern concept!
