Opals have an unearned rep as being unlucky. Mostly because they are a fragile stone, being a gel matrix, and not the best choice for a ring, which can take a lot of abuse on the daily.
So though I do love me some opals, I would trust my klutz tendencies to ruin a gorgeous opal ring. But the good news – though this Stephen Webster ring looks like opal, it’s “black opalscent, clear quartz, crystal haze (9.71 carats); blue sapphire pave (1.95 carats); and black diamond pave (.63 carats) set in 18k white gold.
So wear with impunity!
This sells for USD$6,500.
