Georgian jewellery is not all that common and though pieces can be somewhat clumsy looking to modern eyes, there is something really wonderful about the way diamonds were cut at that time. This five stone ring is, as seller Lang Antiques notes, a rarity.
They note, “This ultra-rare, original early-to-mid-19th century Georgian diamond ring glitters across your finger with five gorgeous old mine-cut diamonds – together weighing 2.00 carats. The bright-white quintet sparkles from within silver-topped, closed back 18 karat gold settings. This special ring is a finger size 8 3/4 and cannot be sized. To be worn gently and with care.”
This sells for USD$9,850.
