Though I love the convenience of checking my phone for the time, I still rely on my wrist watch. Watch sales have been declining in recent years because of the ubiquity of “time” on devices, and this Art Deco watch shows how they were once considered not only essential, but objects of considerable beauty and luxury, and part of a wearer’s clothing ensemble.
Part of Sotheby’s upcoming March fine jewels sale, it’s comprised of enamel, onyx, sapphire, emeralds and diamonds. As this is pretty much only a teaser for the auction, no additional info as to provenance, maker or metal content. It’s dated as 1920s and expected to fetch between £5000-8000.
