If you would like to own a historic royal piece, the December 9 Sotheby’s auction is your change. This necklace, once owned by Queen Nazli of Egypt, is star piece of a sale that includes chalcedony items owned by the Duchess of Windsor.
Here is Sotheby’s description: “Magnificent and Historic Platinum and Diamond Necklace, Van Cleef & Arpels, France The graduated line necklace supporting a flexible bib in the form of a sunburst, centered by an articulated round diamond weighing approximately 6.00 carats, set with 118 larger round diamonds weighing approximately 134.00 carats, accented by smaller round diamonds weighing approximately 27.00 carats, completed by baguette diamonds weighing approximately 50.00 carats, internal circumference 14 inches, with French assay and maker’s marks; 1939.”
The pre-sale estimate is USD$3,600,000 — 4,600,000.
