At a Danish trade mission a few weeks ago, I was quite surprised to be able to meet and shake hands with Crown Princess Mary. Is it wrong that I really would love to have gotten a good look at her engagement ring? I didn’t think it would be polite to ask, and I really didn’t get to see it. Figured it would be rude (and look odd) for me to be staring down at the hand clasping mine for a nanosecond.

But here it is: an emerald cut diamonds flanked by two emerald cut rubies, symbolizing the red and white of the Danish flag. I haven’t been able to locate specs on the maker, or the size of the stones but in some photos … they look sizeable. And quite pretty.
