This pretty and unusual ring by Andrea Forhman uses materials in a clever way.
Fohrman has placed a cabochon rutilated quartz and a small gold shooting star over oval lapis lazuli. Set around it are blue sapphires with black rhodium; the setting is 18k yellow gold.
This piece sells for USD $3100 at Ylang 23.

I love what artists are doing with the doublet concept. Layers–who would have thought??
It’s actually a fairly old concept. For sure Georgian, but possibly older, where they would paint a portrait or scene, and then put a piece of crystal over it. Lots of animals (dogs were popular!) and people. I like the way she’s created almost a diorama feel with this.
