There is something so sweetly 60s retro about this pendant, featuring two tourmaline parrots perched on a gold and diamond swing. In the 50s and 60s, animal motifs, especially birds, were popularly worn as brooches. Often, they were exaggerated and nearly cartoonish, and all the major jewellery names got into the (animal) act.
This pendant is offered by Elizabeth Gage. It’s made of 18k yellow gold set with six diamonds, and carved tourmaline for the birds’ bodies (described on the site as cameos). It’s available for £15,000 including VAT, £12,500 with VAT deducted.
