I think this necklace looks so charming in this photograph. Being sold by New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, it is based on a sketch by Tiffany designer Meta K. Overbeck.
The museum site notes, “She relied on a high degree of finish, stylized filigree, and the stones themselves to make an elegant, bold statement. Luckily, a book of Overbeck’s designs survives in the collection of The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. Our elegant necklace is based on one of her original drawings. Produced in cooperation with The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, Winter Park, Florida.
18K gold overlay, hand enameled, with aquamarine cabochons, cultured freshwater pearls, and glass. Hook-and-eye closure. Adjusts from 17 1/2”L to 19 1/2”L with extender chain.”
Matching earrings (as shown in the photo below) are also available. This sells for USD $125; museum members receive a 10 per cent discount.
