One day, I would like to be able to afford a piece of gold Elsa Peretti mesh jewellery. Well, a piece larger than the lovely but minuscule mesh and pearl necklace I currently own. Even sterling silver, which is generally much less expensive than gold, isn’t really much of an option.
This interesting sterling silver mesh necklace is secured with a black jade snake head. Peretti has used snakes and scorpions often in her designs. I like how she let the mesh work as the “body” of the serpent, taking advantage of the woven material’s sinuous nature.
This measures 24 inches long, and sells for USD $950 at Tiffany. Sigh. Still holding out for the gold. Some day…
