Whoever is in charge of the costume jewellery at Oscar de la Renta is doing a stellar job. The pieces attract the eye while still being very wearable and affordable. To me, they follow in the steps of costume jewellery houses like Nettie Rosenstein and Eisenberg, whose jewels were initially meant to adorn seasonal collections. de la Renta’s costume pieces seem to do a better job of being wearable off the runway than some others I have seen.
This bracelet, studded with faux pearls and Swarovski crystals set in coral metal “branches”, has a really luxe look to it. Made with pewter and gold plated brass, it pulls apart to open at the centre to be put on and taken off. It measures 6 1/2″ inside circumference, and is 1 1/2″ wide.
It sells for USD $395 at Bergdorf Goodman.
