Golden Globes 2014: Contempt is not an accessory, either

Oh, Lena Dunham. Where to begin?

So it’s obvious you don’t want to play the Hollywood game and, I guess, good for you! But that doesn’t mean that if you show up on a red carpet, you have to brandish your disinterest like a weapon.

No, this is not flattering. No, you don’t look happy. Yes, your hair looks like that of a six -year-old whose mom made her slick it back for the annual Christmas photo. No, you don’t have to always make a point with what you wear (or don’t wear) … though frankly, I don’t know what that point is. That you don’t like dressing up? That you’ll dress up, clearly under duress, and screw anyone who doesn’t like how you look? Take you as you are? Yeah, we get that you aren’t a size 0 twig, and there really isn’t anything wrong with that. But not dressing to flatter your body and your looks? I don’t get it.

But no, sneers do not count as accessories.

This whole look says, “I don’t wanna!!!!” Sigh.
