While on a recent trip to New York and glutted with spectacular jewellery (none of which, alas, came home with me) I saw a display of jewellery by UK’s Andrew Prince. He is the designer who adds the very realistic looking jewels to the characters of the popular series Downton Abbey. Bergdorf Goodman had a really amazing collection of his designs, including tiaras, necklaces, bracelets and earrings, ranging in style from Art Nouveau to contemporary with vintage styling.
I looked for a web site and while I was gratified to find one, I was also disappointed that none of the really amazing necklaces appear to be for sale on it. I don’t know if these are special commissioned work for Bergdorf’s (Prince readily does commissioned work) or if he just chooses not to sell necklaces online.
Regardless, you will likely find something to attract your eye, if not open your wallet. This pretty hair comb, made of base metal and Swarovski crystals and pearls, would be fantastic for a glittering night out or a special occasion. It would look really lovely encircling a bun, its intended use and Prince describes on the site how it would sit with a bridal veil. It sells for£400.
