Jewel of the day: Maccimize Antiqued Dangling Leaf Earrings

I remember when I first discovered vintage, at age 16. My mother was disgusted. “You mean … someone wore these?” To me, the fact that those clothes and jewels had a past made them all the more intriguing. Including my eventual wedding gown, from 1918. I think I was more impressed that the first owner found someone to marry in the wake of World War i.

But if you prefer your vintage finds to be more vintage looking than actually preworn, there is something appealingly thrift shoppy about these burnished metal gold leaf earrings by Maccimize. (And hey, their name is cute.)  And at USD $25, they even have a retro price.

  1. Your wedding dress was 1918?  Beautiful!  I wonder what the story was behind her life.  Imagine that bride’s life linked to yours.  That’s fascinating.  She must have been wealthy to be able to afford a real wedding dress.  My parents got married in 1951 and there was still rationing going on in Britain after WW2 and so my Mum wore a chic suit for her wedding as she couldn’t get a proper dress.  She looked beautiful.  I’m rambling.  See you tomorrow.
