Personalization and initials wax and wane in popularity. In the fifties (think Laverne’s huge L monogram on all her sweaters), sixties and seventies, this took the form of initials on monograms (singly or two or three, depending on whether you had a middle initial). Nameplate necklaces were and weren’t popular, and had resurgences periodically with shows like Sex in the City and Carrie’s well-known gold signature piece.
Tiffany’s Elsa Peretti has long had an initial collection in silver or gold, and more recently, Jennifer Meyer and Helen Ficalora do circular initial pendants beloved by celebs and ordinary peeps.
These insouciant script initials by Kwiat are a little jauntier than Peretti’s but remind me the most of her work. These are 18k yellow gold set with a .03 carat diamond. With an 18 inch chain, they sell for USD $750.
