Jewel of the day: Peg and Awl Poesie Til Death Do Us Part Ring

I’m a big fan of Peg and Awl; the husband and wife team reclaim materials to make some really wonderful things. I have their library necklace (versions of which are still for sale on their site, as well).

They’ve launched a new line of poesie rings, popular in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries as lovers’ gifts. These rings typically had engraving inside the band, or special symbolic meaning.

Til Death Do Us Part is just that and is described this way: A few years ago I lost my wedding band and I began to make this to replace it. After 2 years lost my ring found its way to me. I left this ring unfinished, as a result, until now! Carved from wax an based on 16th century mourning rings, I created connected skeletons symbolizing those famous words “from death us do part”. Set among stars and the moon, this duo is ever existent. The resulting ring is a combination of our love for words and our love for history.

it is available in white bronze for USD $110, and in sterling silver for $140.
