Jewel of the day: Alexis Bittar Jewelled Snake Necklace

I was making my way over to Neiman Marcus (dot com) to look at a Lanvin necklace when, as is so often the case, something else glittery caught my eye. It is true that when it come to glitz, I have a short attention span. I am loving this Alexis Bittar snake necklace. There is something simultaneously cheesy and wonderful about it. Snakes and serpents are an enduring jewellery design (one of these days, I will photography my silver and enamel snake bracelet by Margot de Taxco and post it here). The sinuous form lends itself so well to jewellery, and almost always, the piece clasps with the snake’s tail in its mouth. (Although this one has a clasp at the back, and tail/mouth is just a design element.) This piece is made of gunmetal base metal set with crystals. Quite delightful and can now be pre-ordered from Neiman Marcus for USD $795. Alexis Bittar snake necklace
