We are in the midst of statement necklace season. Lots of designers have done these oversized rhinestone pieces (Shourouk comes to mind first) and they have been popularized by J. Crew and others at the mall store level. Bearing in mind that J. Crew’s pieces can be upwards of $150 (sometimes way upwards) this inexpensive rendition of the look has appeal.
By BaubleBar, it is made of acrylic and brass and sells for USD $34.
Although I’m happy to see so many necklaces that are bam! and in your face, the sheer volume (and cheap chic trickle down) usually means one thing: the pendulum will soon be swinging to tiny, barely there accessories.
Darn. Well, I guess I’ll be enjoying over the top while it lasts. And, knowing me, even when tiny and petite are the back at the top of the jewel heap.
