Jewel of the day: Orly Genger by Jaclyn Mayer Ghyslaine necklace

OK, that was a mouthful.

According to ShopBop, where this necklace is available, “Jaclyn Mayer started her eponymous jewelry collection in 2004, after a rigorous education at Parsons and the London College of Fashion. She and acclaimed artist Orly Genger, who has shown at MoMA and Mass MoCA, have paired up to create a collection that mixes glamour with contemporary art. The Orly Genger by Jaclyn Mayer jewelry line is bold and avant garde, adding an ultra-modern pop to any ensemble.”

This necklace is a great reason to rejoice that warmer weather is around the corner for a lot of the world. I find that wearing an ornate piece under a scarf that is under a coat is generally not a fantastic idea. Either the scarf winds up with pulls and snags, or the necklace winds up damaged in some way or full of fluff.

So with spring on the way, a bigger piece like this, with a lot of movement, is a fun thing to pull out. This is made of chain fringe on a rope necklace with a centre enamel section. Available from ShopBop for USD $305.
