Though insects are one of my least favourite things, I do have a soft spot for scarab beetles used in jewellery. A Victorian favourite (and they used the real thing), they still fascinate, with their turquoisey-blue iridescence. Roberto Cavalli has these pretty scarab earrings, set with Swarovski crystals on the body, with the wings ruthenium plated. Available at Net-A-Porter for USD $840; a companion ring is $450.
