Dallas-based jewellery designer Deborah Mullen works with metals to create what she calls forged and textured jewellery.
Her artist’s statement explains her design aesthetic: The practice of dance and it’s attention to form, line, movement, containment and control has greatly influenced my aesthetic vision. As a lifelong student of ballet, I find a creative similarity in the manipulation of hard metal to create an illusion of fluid movement. Indeed, through my work in the metal arts, I feel the physical interaction between myself, tools and materials to be a form of choreography and communication in and of itself.
She works in brass, 18k gold plate, oxidized copper, and nickel silver. This cuff is available for USD $600 from Grey Area.
