Jewel of the day: Shannon Tweed engagement ring

There was a lot of drama surrounding the engagement and wedding of Shannon Tweed to Kiss legend Gene Simmons, and it all played out on their show, Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels, and online. When Simmons finally proposed to Tweed after, as he called it, 28 years of unwedded bliss, it’s no surprise he dropped to one knee. The weight of the 27 carat diamond probably helped weigh him down.

They bought the sparkler from LA-based jeweller Goel Talasazan, from whom they also acquired Tweed’s diamond eternity band. On the show, a price in the vicinity of about USD $180,000 was mentioned for the eternity band, but Talasazan also offers engagement rings priced for non-rock stars and mortals.

In a touching gesture, Tweed has Talasazan craft Simmons’s gold wedding band using melted gold from her late father’s ring, with two strands representing their children Sophie and Nick.
