Jewel of the day: Lalique contemporary jewellery collection

Best known today for it’s glass and crystal pieces, Rene Lalique began in the Art Nouveau era and also designed beautiful glass jewellery. The current owners of the name are launching a new collection to feature fine and more affordable pieces, including a bridal range.

This Vesta necklace is described this way by Women’s Wear Daily: Worked with feather motifs, the Vesta necklace is made from white gold, diamonds and two bezel-set moonstones, and its centerpiece boasts a detachable brooch representing the goddess. The piece is expected to sell for upwards of 500,000 euros, or $647,400 at current exchange, and was made in Paris by various houses specializing in each technique it uses.

Pieces in the lower priced collection will start at about 500 euros, drawing on Art Nouveau and Art Deco themes, and be available initially at Lalique boutiques.
