Allow me a tiny gripe before I get to the glitz… why do jewellery sites in particular seem to offer a super annoying array of video, Flash or just no information at all about the items they are supposedly trying to sell? Messrs. Dolce and Gabbana subject you to a video of a woman making our with her boyfriend and then getting dressed, piece by piece and jewellery item by jewellery item, as you attempt to view the collection. I am sure if I made it to the end, she would be getting undressed, piece by piece.
But I digress… the duo’s first fine jewellery collection is based on what they term Sicillian iconography but looks more like fairly standard Christian worship objects (and I’ve seen these used for years in both high and low end collections).
This necklace features religious charms in what they describe as yellow, red and white gold with black sapphires. There goes the Muslin and Jewish markets for their jewellery…
‘Available at their boutiques worldwide (and of course, the video for that segment is the model veiled in black lace with her hands folded prayerfully behind a confession grille – guess she has plenty to atone for).
