As part of the capsule collection designed by Mad Men costumer Janie Bryant, Banana Republic is offering the classic ladylike accessory: a double strand pearl necklace with embellished clasp. It’s available in white, pale pink and grey. A bonus: because the pearls are not graduated, you could wear it with the clasp on the side to show it off.

I find that the quality of Banana Republic’s jewellery has really gone downhill the past few years. Where they used to offer a lot of solid sterling pieces now it’s mostly plated base metal and cheaper construction. What I liked about this necklace is that it uses glass pearls, instead of plastic. What is a bit disappointing is that the pearls are not individually knotted so if the string breaks, it’s buh bye necklace.

For the $50, however, it’s a pretty and inexpensive indulgence to bring out the Mad Men woman in you.
