This piece instantly brings to mind the famous platinum and gem set crosses bracelet owned by the Duchess of Windsor. What was daring about the Duchess’s bracelet is that crosses were seen at the time as strictly religious symbols. By making each of hers a personal engraved memento and then putting them on a charm bracelet, she gave them a sense of frivolity they had not previously carried. Now the cross has passed into the realm of fashion (for some) as well as a statement of faith.
The Pomellato version is done in rose gold, with the crosses set in tsavorite, white and brown diamonds, sapphires and rubies.
