Jewel of the day: Hemmerle coral and iron brooch

My never ending quest for brooches brings me to the venerable house of Hemmerle, based in Munich and now in its fourth generation of family ownership. This striking broock is made of coral, iron and gold. I love the tiny spider in the top right hand corner.

Hemmerle’s designs are an intriguing marriage of traditional and non-traditional materials (like the pairing of copper with colored diamonds in a pair of spectacular earrings). The result is unique and stunning.
