Today in London, several iconic pieces formerly the property of the Duchess of Windsor were sold at auction by Sotheby’s.
The four most watched: the bracelet with Latin gem set crosses – estimate was 350,000—450,000 GBP. It sold at the 1987 auction for £235,000 and today it went for £601,250. You can see a photo of it in my earlier post here.
The heart shaped diamond pave brooch with entwined emerald set initials and accented with sapphires and rubies, a 20th anniversary gift, sold for £205,250. Its estimate was 100,000—150,000 GBP.
The Cartier flamingo clip, estimate 1,000,000—1,500,000 GBP with a 1987 selling price was 497,942 GBP went for £1,721,250. See my earlier post with photo here.
And the piece de resistance of the sale, the sinuous Cartier panther bracelet, had a pre-auction estimate of 1,000,000—1,500,000 GBP. It sold for 4,521,250 GBP.
