Renowned charity Free the Children has recently introduced its Me To We Artisans collection, jewellery made by people around the world in locations where the organization works to provide schools, education, and better living for children and their families. This bracelet is part of their Kenyan Massai trade bead collection. Wherever possible, the group encouges the use of sustainable materials, locally sourced.
This beautiful limited edition five strand necklace is made of antique trade beads and sterling silver spacers and clasp. I am the proud owner of one of these unique pieces, and 50 per cent of the net profits are returned to Free the Children, reinvesting the other half to grow the enterprise.
This necklace sells for CDN $299; there are several beautiful items for under $50. Each necklace (and there are trade bead bracelets for CDN $99) is different, depending on the mix of beads used, and it can be purchased here.
