Jewel of the day: Sotheby’s sapphire and diamond clip

This little clip intrigues me because I have seen the design used often to great effect in costume jewelry as well. The greats, like Trifari and Boucher, often worked with stylized flowers and in the vintage costume jewellery community there has long been a debate as to who influenced whom. Marcel Boucher worked as a fine jeweller and he did a version of this pin, which I’ll show tomorrow in green and crystal rhinestones.

This beauty is made of sapphires and white diamonds, with a yellow diamond centre accent, with a pre-sale estimate of 15,000-22,000 Swiss francs.
