Jewel of the day: Monique Pean pietersite ring and recycled gold ring

Up and coming designer Monique Pean, winner of a 2009 Vogue/CFDA fashion fund award, uses recycled and indigenous materials and tries to be environmentally aware in executing her designs.

Here she uses pietersite, believed to connect the physical to the spiritual, and to have healing properties. It is set in recycled gold surrounded by micro pave diamonds. Available at Barneys for USD $6180. Find out more about the designer here.
