Jewel of the day: 80s rhinestone necklace and earrings

There is a frank, “I’m here, I’m loud, whatchagonnamakeofit, hell yes, Alexis Carrington would have worn me” look to this set. In researching it, I initially thought it was a vintage piece but learned that the cut and colour of the stone was more likely 80s. So, hello decade of gaudy excess. I do think that with the right dress (as in, minimalist) this set would look perfectly stylish. I like the fact that the large hot pink stones are the only colour in the pieces – to have used anything but crystal would have really gone over the edge (well, as I define the edge, anyhow). And I love the mix of stones and the trapezoidal shape of the pink stones. Rock on, 80s!
