OK, so this is more of an object of the day…
I love amber, particularly opaque or deep red amber. I came across this strand in Santorini, Greece and naturally, it was the most expensive strand in the store. But it was also far and away the nicest. So….since I have a hard time not succumbing to temptation, here it is. The shop owner tried to show me how Greek men flip the beads in their hands but I’m still not very good at it. I do carry them with me when I fly and usually hold them on takeoff and landing.
I’ve since come across an ivory and sterling strand, much longer, that I am told is likely Arabic in origin. Will try to put up a picture of that soon – it’s also quite striking. I find it interesting that worry beads are typically used only by men…
